Hailing from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath in Ireland, Amy Quirke started
out as a drummer in a local band. Gigging at every opportunity across
the length and breadth of Ireland, not only cemented her reputation as
a multi-instrumentalist but also sowed the seeds for her own solo
material.

Taking leave of the stage to focus on writing, Amy moved to London and
then to Melbourne, Australia. Combining the energy of both cities with
her own real life experiences, she has developed her own brand of
honest song writing both on solo and collaborative levels. After a stint in Los Angeles, California, Skywriter was born.

Taking centre stage for the first time, intent on delivering her own
brand of hard pop, Skywriter released her debut single The Simple
Method in the summer of 2016 and most recently her second single Dirty
Face, in March 2018, with a launch night at Whelans of Wexford St, in
Dublin, Ireland.

Both singles were recorded with the Cronin brothers, Michael and
Johnny, in their Transmission Room Recording Studios in Drumlish in
Ireland, where Irish artists such as Kodaline, Shane MacGowan and The
Academic have previously recorded.

Amy collaborated with some of Ireland's finest musicians on her first
two singles including Declan Murphy of  Mullingar band, The Blizzards
on drums. She then teamed up with Ham Sandwich drummer Ollie Murphy
with some live Skywriter shows in 2017.

Amy is currently in the studio recording her debut EP, with well known producer Karl Odlum who has worked with Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and Gemma Hayes to name a few. This is due for release in Spring 2019.

Both Skywriter's singles, The Simple Method and Dirty Face are
available through Spotify and itunes.
